Si-Te-Cah
📍 Lovelock Cave, United States
Folklore
~2000 BC

Northern Paiute oral history tells of the Si-Te-Cah (also known as Saiduka or Sai'i), a legendary tribe with red hair, sometimes described as cannibals or giants. The Northern Paiutes fought and eventually drove them out, with the final battle taking Legendary Place at Lovelock Cave, Nevada. In 1911, guano miners discovered artifacts and mummified remains buried in the cave. Though many items were destroyed, archaeologists recovered around 10,000 Northern Paiute artifacts, including duck decoys, nets, sandals, and baskets, some over 2,000 years old.
