Laocoön (/leɪˈɒkoʊˌɒn, -kəˌwɒn/; Ancient Greek: Λαοκόων, romanized: Laokóōn) is a significant figure in Greek and Roman mythology and the Epic Cycle. He served as a Trojan priest who, along with his two young sons, was attacked by giant serpents. According to the myth, the gods sent these serpents when Laocoön argued against bringing the Trojan horse into the city.
