Vaiśravaṇa (Sanskrit: वैश्रवण), also known as Vessavaṇa (Pali), is one of the Four Heavenly Kings in Buddhism and holds significant importance. In Tibetan, he is referred to as རྣམ་ཐོས་སྲས་ (Namtösé), while in Chinese, he is known as 多闻天王 (Duōwén Tiānwáng) in simplified characters and 多聞天王 (Duōwén Tiānwáng) in traditional characters. In Japanese, he is called 毘沙門天 (Bishamonten). Vaiśravaṇa is depicted as the god of warfare and is commonly shown as a warrior-king. His figure is inspired by Kubera, the Hindu deity of wealth.
