Clíodhna

📍 Mallow, Ireland Legendary Creature ~373 AD
Clíodhna

In Irish mythology, Cliodhna is a Queen of the Banshees belonging to the Tuatha Dé Danann. She rules as the powerful banshee queen over the *sióga* (fairies) of South Munster, also known as Desmond, from her realm at Carrigcleena.

Some Irish myths portray Clíodhna as a goddess of love and beauty who serves as the patron of County Cork. She is known to possess three magical birds with vibrant plumage that feed on apples from an otherworldly tree. The birds' enchanting songs are said to have healing powers.

Her palace was located within a rocky formation situated 5 miles from Mallow, a site still known today as Carrig-Cleena. The Munster peasantry, who viewed her as their protector, passed down many legends about her through generations.
