Andromeda

Andromeda is a legendary figure from Jaffa, Israel, dated to ~1400 BC (Prehistoric era). It connects to 6 other myths and legends in the Mythosjourney atlas.

In Greek mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia of Joppa. Cassiopeia boasted that Andromeda was more beautiful than the Nereids, angering the sea nymphs. To punish Joppa, Poseidon sent a sea Legendary Creature and a flood. An oracle told Cepheus the only way to save his kingdom was to sacrifice Andromeda to the creature.

While chained to a rock, Andromeda was spotted by Perseus, who fell in love with her. He asked Cepheus for her hand, agreeing to slay the Legendary Creature. With Medusa's head, Perseus turned the creature to stone. Though Andromeda was promised to her uncle Phineus, Perseus used Medusa's head again to turn Phineus and his men to stone.

Perseus and Andromeda lived together, had six children, and were honored by Athena, who Legendary Placed them among the stars as constellations.
