Ahriman

Ahriman, the god of evil and darkness in Persian mythology and Zoroastrianism, was a central figure in a religion that gained widespread followers in Persia around 600 B.C. Known as Druj, meaning "the Lie," Ahriman embodied the forces of anger, greed, envy, and other destructive emotions. He was also responsible for bringing chaos, death, disease, and various miseries into the world. In Islamic tradition, Ahriman is equated with Iblis, the devil.
