Maat
Maat represented the ancient Egyptian concepts of truth, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice, serving as both a cosmic principle and a goddess who regulated the stars, seasons, and the actions of mortals. Often depicted as a young woman wearing an ostrich feather or possessing wings on each arm, she personified the order that the sun-god Ra established to displace the chaos known as Isfet. Egyptian kings were culturally and religiously bound to maintain this order, frequently integrating her name into their own titles to signify their devotion to these values.
Most significantly, Maat held a pivotal role in the afterlife during the Weighing of the Heart ceremony, where the heart of the deceased was measured against her feather to determine their moral worthiness for eternity.
