Inti is the ancient Inca sun god, honored as the national patron of the Inca state. While commonly known as the sun god, Inti more accurately represents a collection of solar aspects, as the Inca differentiated his identity according to the sun's various stages. As the patron deity of the Inca Empire, Inti has connections to Emperor Pachacuti, who is often credited with the establishment and expansion of the Inca Sun Cult. The prevailing belief held that Inti was born from Viracocha, who bore many titles, most importantly the God of Creation.
