Ilmarinen

Ilmarinen is a divine blacksmith and creator deity in Finnish mythology, known also as Ilmari and takoja iänikuinen ("the eternal hammerer"). Featured prominently in the Finnish national epic Kalevala, he represents the archetypal master craftsman with immortal powers and limitless creative abilities.

His legendary metalworking skills encompass all metals known in ancient times—brass, copper, iron, gold, and silver. Among his greatest achievements are crafting the dome of the sky itself and forging the magical Sampo artifact. Throughout the Kalevala, he is frequently referred to by the title seppä or seppo (meaning "smith"), which later evolved into the Finnish given name Seppo.
