Ancient Serpent

The Ancient Serpent is the translated form of an honorary title bestowed upon a monstrous creature in the folklore and spiritual beliefs of the Paiute Native American peoples of Nevada. According to legend, this enormous water serpent makes its home in Pyramid Lake. Whenever whirlpools formed or the waters began to froth and churn, the Paiute would keep their distance from the shore, believing that the Ancient Serpent was actively hunting for its next victim beneath the turbulent surface.
